A July 16 shooting that injured one person is now under active investigation, a Friday news release from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said.

According to the release, deputies were dispatched to the 8000 Block of Bayfield Road in response reported shooting at an apartment complex. The Samara East Apartment is located at 8100 Bayfield Road.
The victim had a gunshot wound to the upper body and was transferred to a hospital, the release said.

Deputies located a crime scene within the apartment complex, upon which Crime Scene Investigators were called to evaluate the scene, the release said.

The shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
