Two former deputies with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office were arrested after scheming to secure a search warrant, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Michael Allen Irvin, 52, and Larry Todd Tucker Jr., 40, were charged with misconduct in office Monday, according to a news release.
In Oct. 2024, both men — formerly sergeants with the department— conspired to obtain a search warrant for a residence by submitting false information in an affidavit that was submitted to a county magistrate judge, according to an affidavit by SLED.
Although the affidavit in question was drafted by Tucker, Irvin was listed as the affiant, or the person attesting to the sworn document.

The affidavit included the following, which investigators say was a lie: “In the last 72 hours a CI made a controlled drug purchase of methamphetamine from the residence of the defendant.”
Tucker and Irvin, therefore, are accused of “willfully and unlawfully” failing to discharge their duties by submitting an affidavit — approved by the magistrate — “they knowingly prepared and presented” as false, SLED’s affidavit said.
Irvin and Tucker Jr. were booked into the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney’s General’s Office, according to the release.
