Sky Bistro & Lounge, which has operated at 1120 Washington St. in the heart of downtown Columbia for four years, has closed that location, the business noted in a Facebook post.

“Our time at 1120 Washington St has now come to an end,” Sky Bistro said on social media. “Sunday August 2nd was the last day of operation at this location. This is not a goodbye. It’s a see you later. As we close this chapter at this location, we look forward to the next chapter of SKY Bistro Lounge. Stay Tuned.”

The menu at Sky Bistro has included entrées such as rosemary lamb chops, ribs, flounder and New York strips, among other offerings. The restaurant also had a deep roster of appetizers, sandwiches, desserts, drinks and more. A sign on the window at the Washington Street bistro touted that it had “The best happy hour in the South.”

The Aug. 3 Facebook post announcing Sky’s Washington Street closure drew a big response with more than 230 reactions and more than 165 shares as of Aug. 6.

“We would like to thank all the people who patronized SKY Bistro Lounge during our time at this location,” the business said in its social media message. “Your unwavering support was vital to our success during this amazing journey. We would also like to express gratitude to all the employees, DJs, and security personnel that were a part of the SKY Bistro Lounge team.”

The bistro’s Washington Street shuttering comes as the building where it is located, along with adjoining 1136 Washington Street, is set to be redeveloped as a new hotel.
