Richland County Sheriff’s deputies were involved in a shooting after a traffic stop Thursday afternoon.

Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle around 1:30 p.m. for suspended tags and then went on a pursuit that ended on Leesburg Road where the suspects wrecked their vehicle, according to a news release.
Deputies along with K9 tracked the suspects approximately 2 ½ hours, according to the release.

One suspect came in contact with the deputies and gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and deputies. Three additional suspects were apprehended in the woods and multiple guns have been recovered, according to the release.
Sheriff Leon Lott will hold a press conference on Friday, Aug. 7 to provide more information into a shooting involving deputies.
