A Columbia-area shop known for offering footwear for youngsters says it plans to close its doors.

Tootsies Children’s Shoes, which has been located at 4517 Forest Drive in Forest Acres near Columbia for a number of years, said in an Aug. 21 post on Facebook that it plans to bid farewell.
“With heavy but grateful hearts, we share that Tootsies Children Shoes in Columbia, SC will be closing our doors,” Tootsies said in the social media post. “For years, we’ve had the joy of helping little feet take their first steps, fitting countless pairs of shoes, and becoming part of so many family memories. Thank you to every parent, grandparent, and child who walked through our doors — your trust and support have meant the world to us.”
The shop did not disclose a definitive closing date in the Facebook post. A closing sale has begun, with discounts up to 40% off. There also is a banner on the Tootsies website announcing its plans to close.

“This is your last chance to stock up on quality children’s shoes at great prices and say one final goodbye,” the Aug. 21 Facebook post said. “Come see us soon, share a memory, and help us close this chapter with the same love that made Tootsies special.”
Tootsies is located in the Forest Village shopping center that is home to a number of businesses, including Be Beep Toys, Boca Grande Burritos, Tombo Grille and others. The plaza is located along bustling Forest Drive. Nearly 30,000 cars per day travel down Forest Drive, per state Department of Transportation statistics.
