A South Carolina motorcyclist has died after a collision with a tractor-trailer in Chester County, officials said.

Ted Horne Jr., 63, died at the scene, according to the Chester County Coroner’s Office.
The crash happened around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night on S.C. 9 near Lyle Road, according to a statement from Cpl. David Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The area is west of Exit 65 of Interstate 77 and south of Rock Hill.

Both vehicles were traveling east on S.C. 9, Jones said. The Freightliner truck was slowing down to turn into a driveway when the Harley-Davidson motorcycle hit the truck in the rear, according to Jones.

The driver of the truck was not hurt, troopers said.
The fatality remains under investigation, officials said.
