A search in South Carolina for a missing teen girl has ended.
Shayla Kensley Davis was located and is safe, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said at about 9 a.m. Sunday. The 16-year-old was publicly reported missing Saturday by the sheriff’s office.

Since she left home, the 16-year-old was seen in neighboring Lancaster County, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. After the teenager was located, the sheriff’s office thanked the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance, and for helping to “bring this situation to a safe conclusion.”
There was no word about where in Lancaster County and when Davis was located. When she was previously spotted in Lancaster County, Davis was seen in the Kennington Road area, according to the release.
Information about when Davis first went missing was not available.
The sheriff’s office did not say if Davis was considered a runaway, but did say that her family believed that the teen left home voluntarily. There was no word if Davis was alone when she was last seen — in either Fairfield or Lancaster counties — and the sheriff’s office did not say if foul play was suspected in the teen’s disappearance.

“Thank you to everyone who helped us bring Shayla home safely,” the sheriff’s office said.
