Wet, hot summers in South Carolina are usually spent on an ocean, lake or river. That\u2019s especially true on the Fourth of July, one the busiest times of year for boating.<\/p>\n

To promote safe boating during the Fourth of July weekend, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources\u2019 Law Enforcement Division will be offering boat inspections at public boat landings across the state, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

That will include a location on Lake Murray in Lexington County.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Boating safety and enforcement officers will perform inspections for required safety equipment and proper boat and motor registrations, officials said. Those who are not in compliance with the necessary safety regulations or registration requirements will not be ticketed during the complimentary inspections. Instead, they will be given an opportunity to correct the problem before they launch their boat.<\/p>\n

Those who attend will also have the opportunity to get boater safety tips.<\/p>\n
