Vote today in The State\u2019s poll<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The town of Chapin announced Wednesday that the town is putting use restrictions for customers on its Amicks Ferry water system.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is due to extremely high water use demands that are occurring during the morning hours on this water system,\u201d the town said in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The restrictions are in place from 4:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring these hours, please conserve water where possible and do not use landscape sprinkler systems until later in the day, (unless you use lake water for irrigation),\u201d the town said. \u201cThis issue is caused by the dry hot weather and we expect this restriction to be lifted at a later date as the weather and water use changes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The restrictions come amid an ongoing drought in South Carolina, which last month was upgraded from \u201cmoderate\u201d to \u201csevere.\u201d The South Carolina Drought Response Committee said it would take months of above-average rainfall for the state to return to normal moisture levels.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>One water conservation expert said at the time of the latest upgrade that the southern part of the state was \u201cthe driest that I\u2019ve ever seen in my 50 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/usmovingexpertss.com\/?p=241\">High-ranking sheriff\u2019s deputy had informant buy meth for him to use, SC cops say<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Chapin previously announced similar restrictions in the summer of 2024, when another surge in early-morning water demand put a strain on the system.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Population growth has also strained the town\u2019s resources, which is largely outside the town\u2019s control since it serves customers outside the town limits, then-Chapin Town Administrator Nicholle Burroughs told The State during the last restriction period.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>She said the town was looking for funding to improve its water infrastructure, which dates back to 1968.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are currently engineering a long-term solution for this problem,\u201d the town said Wednesday. \u201cWe will issue another notice to announce the end of these restrictions as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/usmovingexpertss.com\/?p=240\">Hurricane season forecast is \u2018below normal\u2019 \u2014 but it comes with a warning<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--]--><!-- --><!-- --><!-- --><!-- --><\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chapin asks residents on the Amicks Ferry system to conserve water from 4:30\u20139:30 a.m. amid severe drought and strained infrastructure.
