Here\u2019s where<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Charles Booker, the Democrat facing off against Republican nominee U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, released a lengthy statement Thursday afternoon calling for transparency about McConnell\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Booker said that while he was sensitive to the personal nature of medical emergencies, \u201cour entire commonwealth and country are vested\u201d in McConnell\u2019s condition.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time we know what\u2019s happening. When we don\u2019t know if our senator is alert, conscious, or capable of serving, that\u2019s not a partisan question. It\u2019s a Kentucky one,\u201d Booker said. \u201cWhat is clear is that we have known for some time that Mitch McConnell has lacked the capacity to represent us in the Senate. That fact, along with the developing news now, is deeply concerning.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cContinuing to ignore this is not leadership. It\u2019s elder abuse. And it\u2019s time for him to relinquish the business of Kentucky back to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>McConnell was hospitalized June 14, but his team did not give details about his condition at the time, only saying he was receiving \u201cexcellent care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>On June 22, spokesperson Stephanie Penn said he would not vote in the Senate that week but is working \u201cclosely\u201d with staff as his health continues to recover.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Dispatch audio obtained by national media outlets this week revealed first responders performed CPR on someone experiencing \u201ccardiac arrest\u201d at a known address for McConnell the same day his hospitalization was announced, according to NBC news.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Booker said accounts of McConnell\u2019s health are seemingly contradictory. The senator\u2019s team said he was fully engaged on Senate business, Booker noted.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are now learning that the emergency responders who were called to his home that same morning responded to cardiac arrest, and that CPR was administered. McConnell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful for his service to the Commonwealth,\u201d Barr said. \u201cI look forward to continuing to work alongside Sen. McConnell and President Trump to deliver for Kentucky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Previously, Barr told reporters at the Republican Party of Kentucky\u2019s Lincoln Dinner June 20 that he\u2019d exchanged text messages with McConnell and said he was released from the hospital.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>McConnell\u2019s office has not confirmed if he\u2019s still hospitalized.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Senate Majority Leader John Thune said June 15 he had spoken with McConnell after his hospitalization and deferred to McConnell\u2019s staff when asked when he will be back, according to reporting from ABC News.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe sounded good. He wants to be back,\u201d Thune said.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>Gov. Andy Beshear says he\u2019s gotten \u201cno information\u201d from McConnell\u2019s office<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Democratic Gov.
