An updated weather alert was issued by the NWS Wilmington NC on Saturday at 3:37 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 4 p.m. for Williamsburg County.<\/p>\n

The storms could bring wind gusts of up to 50 mph and pea-sized hail (0.25 inches).<\/p>\n

“At 3:37 p.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Manning to near Salters. Movement was east at 20 mph,” according to the NWS. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.”<\/p>\n

Locations impacted by the alert include Kingstree, Salters, Trio, Gourdin, Lane, Greeleyville and Williamsburg Regional Hospital.<\/p>\n

The NWS adds, “If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 9 p.m. for northeastern South Carolina.”<\/p>\n
