He is currently the board\u2019s parliamentarian.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cServing the students, families, educators, and taxpayers of Richland County School District One has been one of the greatest honors of my life,\u201d Devine wrote in a news release. \u201cI am deeply grateful for the trust the community has placed in me over the past 17 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>According to a news release, Devine is \u201coptimistic\u201d about the future of the school district, as well as the board\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/usmovingexpertss.com\/?p=3245\">SC landowners sue over natural gas pipeline surveys. Here\u2019s what to know<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Devine\u2019s resignation is effective in November.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Devine, an advocate for public school choice and school safety, was first elected in 2008.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>What will happen to his school board seat?<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Devine was reelected to a four-year term in 2024. By the time of his departure this upcoming fall, there will be two years left.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>It is unclear whether it will be filled by a special election, or during the 2026 general election. The State has reached out to the Richland County office of the South Carolina Election Commission.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Devine\u2019s District 2 seat was hotly contested during the last election, with three challengers seeking to beat the incumbent.
