State University, announced his resignation in an email sent to colleagues on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>In the email provided to The State, Evans announces he has tendered his formal resignation, \u201ceffective immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Evans had served as S.C. State\u2019s provost on an interim basis since 2021, and took on the role permanently in 2023. Here\u2019s what to know<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I depart with a heavy heart, I do so with profound appreciation for the experiences, relationships, and accomplishments that have marked my time at the University,\u201d Evans wrote. \u201cI remain proud of the work we have undertaken to strengthen academic quality, enhance student success, advance research and innovation, and position the University for continued growth.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough I am stepping away from my official responsibilities, I will continue to support South Carolina State University from a distance and will always remain a proud advocate for the institution and its students,\u201d Evans said in the email.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>From his former position, Evans oversaw all of S.C.
