Here\u2019s what to know<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Shayla Addison, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of influencing a federal office by threat, according to a news release from an Indiana U.S. district attorney\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The news release does not name Mace as the victim, but the congresswoman has identified herself publicly, including in a news release Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one should have to fear for their life for serving the American people,\u201d Mace said in the news release.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Addison sent threatening and explicit messages to Mace\u2019s campaign phone and email and posted similar messages on her Instagram, according to news releases from the congresswoman\u2019s office and the Department of Justice.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Addison\u2019s federal prison sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release. Nancy Mace<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Another person was sentenced to five years, suspended to 30 months of house arrest, and five years of probation in a Greenville, South Carolina, court for threatening Mace, according to a press release from her office. Samuel Theodore Cain was arrested in May 2025 by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and charged with threatening life, person or family of public official, according to court filings.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Cain posted \u201cI\u2019M GOING TO ASSASSINATE REPRESENTATIVE NANCY MACE WITH A GUN AND I\u2019M BEING 100% DEAD ASS\u201d on X, according to Mace\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Mace, who represents the 1st Congressional District, thanked law enforcement and prosecutors involved in the two cases in a social media post Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot one, but two people in two different cases in two different states were sentenced today for death threats against me,\u201d she said in a post on X.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Mace is not running for reelection to the U.S. House.
