Friends of a South Carolina family that lost a mother in a York County crash over the weekend in which two of her children were hurt, have raised thousands of dollars to help the family.<\/p>\n

The donations are coming in as the state\u2019s public safety department conducts a probe into the crash that includes a special team that often handles large scale investigations.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Gilfillan, 36, of Clover, was one of two drivers who died at the scene after a Ford Mustang hit Gilfillan\u2019s SUV head-on Saturday afternoon on Paraham Road between Lake Wylie and Clover, officials said. Justin Meenaghan, 18, of Fort Mill, was the Mustang driver who also died at the scene, according to the York County Coroner.<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe set up for Gilfillan\u2019s family with their approval had already raised more than $7,000 from over a hundred donations by Monday afternoon. Organizers have heard from many people with offers of help, said family friend Krysten Elmore, who set up the GoFundMe fundraiser.<\/p>\n

Gilfillan had six passengers in the SUV \u2014 five of them children \u2014 who were transported for medical treatment, officials said. Friends of the family told The Herald and posted on GoFundMe that two of the kids in the SUV were Gilfillan\u2019s children. She has another child who was not in the vehicle, Elmore said.<\/p>\n

The money will be used for expenses going forward, Elmore said.<\/p>\n

She told The Herald that community support and prayers that have come in for the family are appreciated.<\/p>\n

The names of Gilfillan\u2019s two children hurt, the three other children in the SUV, and the other adult passenger in the SUV have not been released by police. Their conditions have not been made public by officials.<\/p>\n

Gilfillan, who went to Clover High School, has a loving family in both Clover and Blacksburg, and many friends who have known her for years, Elmore said.<\/p>\n

The S.C. Highway Patrol had little new information about the crash on Monday, two days after the collision shut down Paraham Road for more than five hours as emergency crews worked the scene.<\/p>\n
