Friends and family members have described the victims in Saturday\u2019s mass shooting in Twin Falls as an \u201cace,\u201d a \u201cbeautiful soul,\u201d and someone who made a \u201ccourageous decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Three people were killed at an In-N-Out Burger off of Blue Lakes Boulevard, Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said on Sunday. Seven other people were injured. Of those who were injured, two have since been treated and released, three were in stable condition Sunday, and two remained in critical condition.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The shooter, who was identified as 24-year-old Chad Williams, died by suicide, Hicks said. Three people \u2014 one of the injured victims, a Kimberly resident and an off-duty police officer \u2014 engaged the shooter before first responders arrived.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Twin Falls Police Department, along with other agencies, have not released the names of those who were shot, but families and friends have started to come forward. On Monday, law enforcement in Twin Falls offered no update, and police and city officials could not be reached for further comment.<\/p>\n

Ashley Garibay<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Ashley Garibay, an In-N-Out employee, was one of the three people who died in the shooting, her family confirmed in a statement Monday night to the Idaho Statesman. \u201cIn-N-Out Burger was Ashley\u2019s first job, and she fell in love with it,\u201d her family wrote.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old Stockton, California, resident was working at the newly opened Twin Falls restaurant, and had traveled across the country to help open new stores, her family said. Garibay\u2019s dream was to one day manage her own store, according to the statement.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are heartbroken and devastated by the loss of Ashley \u2014 a devoted daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend \u2014 whose life was taken from us far too soon,\u201d her family wrote.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

They described her as an \u201camazing, beautiful soul who loved living life.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was adventurous, outgoing, smart and driven, never letting obstacles get in her way. She lit up a room with her bright smile and a laugh that was contagious,\u201d her family said. \u201cShe was a friend to all, and no matter what difficulties she was facing, she always found a way to help others find the light in the darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n

In-N-Out President Lynsi Snyder confirmed in an Instagram post on Saturday one of their employees was killed in the shooting.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lost one of our beautiful associates tonight,\u201d she wrote. \u201cShe was taking care of our most important asset \u2014 our customers \u2014 and her life was taken by a disgusting human who doesn\u2019t value the lives of others or his own.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Garibay\u2019s mother created a GoFundMe, asking for help laying her daughter to rest \u201cin the most beautiful way.\u201d She\u2019s hoping to raise $50,000.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Christopher \u201cToph\u201d Claunch<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Christopher \u201cToph\u201d Claunch died in Saturday\u2019s shooting, his sister, Kimberly Castaneda, told The New York Times. The Hagerman resident worked at Renaissance Ranch Recovery Center in Rupert, a drug and alcohol rehab for men.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cHe gave a lot,\u201d friend Garren Taylor told the Times.<\/p>\n

Terry Dudley<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Terry Dudley was \u201csimply charging\u201d his Tesla at the Twin Falls Visitor Center, which is just across the parking lot from In-N-Out, \u201cwhen he was shot twice in the back,\u201d according to an online fundraiser created by his friend James Palmer. Dudley survived.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Palmer told the Idaho Statesman that if he could think of one word to describe his longtime friend, it would be \u201ctenacious.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a go-getter,\u201d Palmer said over the phone. \u201cWhere others give up, he keeps going. You know, he\u2019s a good guy, and he didn\u2019t deserve this \u2014 nobody did.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dudley had to be transported to a Boise-area hospital, Palmer said. He has undergone several surgeries and is alert, though he was still intubated, he told the Statesman.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Palmer hopes to raise $40,000 to help with medical expenses as the financial burden on Dudley and his family \u201cwill be immense,\u201d according to the GoFundMe. Any funds raised beyond Dudley\u2019s immediate needs would be shared with the other victims and families, the post said.<\/p>\n

As of Monday evening, the fundraiser had topped $28,000.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dudley is a driver for North Star Taxi, which Palmer owns. Despite owning the business, Palmer told the Statesman that he runs it with Dudley. \u201cHe\u2019s just my ace,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Austin James<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Austin James was sitting with his wife in the In-N-Out drive-thru \u201cwhen the sound of gunfire shattered the moment,\u201d according to an online fundraiser created by his family.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Without hesitation, he ran toward the shooter hoping to stop the threat, the fundraiser said. He intentionally didn\u2019t draw his weapon because he didn\u2019t want to be mistaken as the suspect by responding law enforcement, according to the post.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As he rounded the corner, the suspect shot him, shattering a humerus (arm) bone and severing an artery, the fundraiser said. His father, Marcus James, said his son survived but was in critical condition, according to a Sunday post on his Facebook page. Austin James remained hospitalized Monday with more surgery scheduled this week, his father said.<\/p>\n

Austin James \u201cwas shot while responding to an active shooter incident,\u201d his father wrote. \u201cWhen he heard gunfire, he made the courageous decision to move toward the danger in an effort to protect others.\u201d<\/p>\n

While James previously worked in law enforcement, his father told the Statesman by phone that he wasn\u2019t the off-duty officer who shot at the suspect.<\/p>\n
