Roughly half of all residential moves occur between Memorial Day and Labor Day, according to U-Haul. And the trends show America\u2019s older generations are flocking to the Southeast, especially South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what U-Haul\u2019s national report reveals about who\u2019s moving to the Palmetto State:<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>South Carolina\u2019s growth<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>South Carolina recorded the fastest population growth of any state at <u>1.5%<\/u> last year, according to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. The majority of growth comes from domestic migration, when people move from one state to another.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>South Carolina\u2019s fastest growing <u>counties<\/u> are in the Lowcountry and Upstate. Jasper County is not only the fastest growing in South Carolina, it is the <u>second fastest<\/u> in the country, according to World Population Review. Three other counties, Horry, Berkeley and Lancaster counties are also in the top 50.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>Who\u2019s moving here?<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>South Carolina is a top three destination for both Baby Boomer and Generation X movers, according to the report. Baby Boomer\u2019s top destination is South Carolina, taking the first spot over North Carolina in second and Florida in third. Gen X prefers Florida and Texas, but South Carolina falls third.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The report also breaks down moves to the metro-area level. The Myrtle Beach metro took second place for Baby Boomers with the Charleston metro not far behind in fourth. Berkeley County is within the Charleston metro, and Horry County is within the Myrtle Beach metro.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>America\u2019s older generations are coming to South Carolina for retirement or for the winter, according to the report. South Carolina\u2019s warm summers and mild winters are likely appeals for retirees.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>What about younger generations?<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>America\u2019s younger generations aren\u2019t coming to South Carolina as much, but aren\u2019t avoiding the Southeast entirely. Millennials\u2019 top destination is Florida, followed by Texas and California. Generation Z prefers Texas, followed by California and New York.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Millennials appear to prefer the Midwest over the Southeast, according to the report. Gen Z is moving to dense markets in the Northeast, Midwest and West Coast for college, entry-level jobs and apartment access, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Charlotte, North Carolina is the seventh most popular metro area for Gen Z.
