The ICE agents requested to tour the office for beds, but were ultimately turned away after failing to provide a warrant.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>ICE and the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to questions about the incident.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Under President Donald Trump\u2019s second term, federal immigration officials have used a multitude of unprecedented tactics to crack down on both undocumented immigrants and individuals following the legal pathway. But UC Davis Law Professor Kevin Johnson, an expert on immigration law and civil rights, said he hadn\u2019t heard of agents attempting to enter an immigration law firm and search for beds.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou might try to collect evidence and information about undocumented people, but you have to have a warrant for that,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Raissa Morris, owner of the Morris Law Group, received a text at 9:16 a.m. which read \u201cimmigration is here.\u201d The message came from one of her employees who told her an agent, who was armed and wearing an ICE badge, had entered the front lobby and asked to speak to an office manager.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>She quickly told one of her employees to tell an agent that they could not inspect the building without a warrant. The agent responded by saying that they had received a list from Washington, D.C., which featured multiple clients using the law firm\u2019s address. He asked to inspect the office for beds and said if they received follow-up orders that they could return at 3 a.m. to break windows and enter.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Morris said clients of immigration lawyers, especially victims of crimes, routinely use an office\u2019s address as their mailing address. Her law firm represents more than 2,000 clients.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/usmovingexpertss.com\/?p=4659\">\u2018Right into the ocean.\u2019 34 Carolinians see fireball streak across Carolinas sky.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know my rights as an attorney, but I was also afraid for my clients, like the clients that have to come in to pick up notices, pick up mail from us, have appointments throughout the day,\u201d Morris told The Sacramento Bee. \u201cAnd honestly, I was also afraid for my staff because we know the news \u2014 what\u2019s happened in all other places.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The agents remained for the next hour until Daniel Azurduy, a dentist and the building manager, arrived. Azurduy told the men that, without a warrant, they were trespassing and threatened to call the police. They left shortly after.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel frustrated that there is no transparency with following the law,\u201d Azurduy said. \u201cI believe in the constitution, and I believe that there are rules that people should follow in the proper channels to do the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Photos provided to The Bee show at least four unmarked and solidly black vehicles \u2014 Chevrolet Tahoe, Dodge Durango, Ford truck and Nissan Pathfinder \u2014 in the parking lot of the building.
