Rescuers were able to access the hiker by using the 3.6-mile Profile Trail, Calloway said.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was able to tell us what happened. He said he stepped off the trail to get a view and slipped,\u201d Calloway said. \u201cHe fell straight down to the ground below. Landed on dirt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The rescuers moved the hiker about 150 feet to an open area where he could be lifted to a helicopter sent by NC Emergency Management.
