A heat dome is baking most of the southeast, and there is a significant risk of heat illness.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Temperature normals typically reach the upper 80s in August near Myrtle Beach, but several days have reached into the 90s this month. When will normal weather return?<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>Temperature outlook<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>According to heat forecasts from the NWS in Wilmington, North Carolina, heat indices are estimated to be above 105 degrees, the typical criteria for a heat advisory, through Friday. Extreme peaks may settle by Saturday, but forecasts are subject to change.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Temperatures are forecast to ease into the lower 90s by Wednesday and into the upper 80s by Friday.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration\u2019s Climate Prediction Center seasonal temperature outlooks give Horry County a 50% to 60% chance of above normal temperatures for the rest of August, and a 40%-50% chance of above normal temperatures through October.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/usmovingexpertss.com\/?p=4789\">Russell Fry picks candidate in SC\u2019s U.S. Senate runoff. Winter appears to be a wetter season for the area, particularly due to El Ni\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>Watch for signs of heat illness<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Being outside for long periods during such high temperatures may cause heat illness.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Some of the first signs of heat illness are heavy sweating and muscle cramps. Additional symptoms of nausea, dizziness, headache or vomiting could indicate heat exhaustion. The NWS advises moving into a cooler environment, taking sips of water and applying cool, wet towels.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>If symptoms prolong for more than an hour, seek medical attention. Worsening symptoms of throbbing headache, confusion, slurred speech, body temperature above 103 degrees, fainting or loss of consciousness are signs of heat stroke. Call 911 or get to a hospital immediately, as delayed action could be fatal, according to the NWS.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The NWS advises precautionary actions to avoid dangerous signs of heat-related illnesses, such as drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun and checking  on relatives and neighbors.
