Mitchell denied making the post, and when a member of the public attending the meeting said he had the post on his phone, the mayor called him up to examine it.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe had something with wording added to it,\u201d said Mitchell, who declared the post \u201cstaged\u201d during Thursday\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The chief of police then announced to the crowd that any more disruptions from the public during the meeting would result in them being ejected.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>But Mitchell said later he had made a public endorsement of Wilson\u2019s gubernatorial campaign on his personal Facebook page, and subsequently shared it to the town\u2019s page.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Mayor of Chapin, South Carolina, I am proud to endorse Alan Wilson for Governor of the State of South Carolina,\u201d Mitchell wrote in a post on his own page, which is topped \u201cFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE\u201d and features a photo of the mayor meeting Wilson at a campaign stop.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs local leaders, we depend on strong partnerships with state officials who understand the challenges facing our communities,\u201d Mitchell wrote. \u201cAlan Wilson has consistently shown a willingness to work with local governments, law enforcement agencies, and community stakeholders to address critical issues affecting South Carolina families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/usmovingexpertss.com\/?p=5067\">SC farmer cancels sales to restaurants after mattress factory fire spews ash on crops<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Mitchell told The State he had second thoughts about sharing the post on the town\u2019s page, and spoke to someone who works in the office of U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, the candidate\u2019s father, who advised him the post was likely inappropriate. The mayor later deleted the post.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was not meant to put it up there and then hide it,\u201d Mitchell said. He now agrees \u201cYou can\u2019t endorse a candidate on the town page.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Alan Wilson declined to comment on the post when contacted Friday.
