Airy. Agents located Puckett and arrested him without incident,\u201d the SBI reported in a Mayt 31 news release.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSBI Agents, utilizing a drone, located the suspect moving from one location to another and made the arrest as he was ringing the doorbell of the residence. The suspect was still armed at the time of arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The arrest happened after people in the community were warned to say in their homes and be on the lookout for a shirtless man in green shorts and \u201cwearing an orange horse blanket.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Puckett had been on the run since Friday, May 29, when Deputy Logan Utt was fatally during a welfare check at a home on Fancy Gap Highway in Carroll County, Virginia.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<div> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"730\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fsurrycountysheriff%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02uUG6yc7bHniPnQVD6tMK5wFijm8o4b6wgknsNCb6S8iFzwnC83B4n5jsydtmsp6ul&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" width=\"500\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon arrival, two deputies made contact with a male subject identified as Michael Puckett. During the encounter, Puckett opened fire on the responding deputies. The second deputy was struck in his ballistic vest and is currently receiving medical evaluation and is reported to be in stable condition. Michael Puckett fled the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The shooting led to a multi-state manhunt that came to an end two days later in Surry County, North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Puckett was arrested just six miles southeast from where the manhunt began.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Investigators did not reveal what Puckett\u2019s intentions were when he stopped at the home on Skyview Lane northwest of Mt. Airy. Maps show the home is in a sparsely populated area on a dead-end road.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Mt.
