His nomination requires approval from the U.S. Senate.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>McCoy currently chairs the state-owned utility Santee Cooper board of directors, a role Gov. McCoy resigned from the state House after the Trump administration nominated him to be the South Carolina U.S. attorney in 2020.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>McCoy later resigned from that post in 2021.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration also nominated former South Carolina Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer to an ambassadorship to Belize in April.
