Two types of fireworks recalled around the United States two days before July 4

The very nature of fireworks makes them dangerous, so what can make fireworks so dangerous that they get recalled two days before the biggest fireworks day of all, July 4, Independence Day?

For an answer, check out Thursday’s recalls by Winco Fireworks International, based in the Kansas City suburb of Grandview, Missouri.

Winco recalled about 87,120 Unity 7 Shot 200 Gram Aerial Cake Firework Devices because, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice said: “The recalled fireworks can tip over, posing a risk of serious injury from explosion and burn hazards.”

No injuries have been reported. This affects devices with model No. MEF6096 with date codes between 03.16.2026 and 05.18.2026.

Winco also yanked about 13,500 Roman Candles 8 Shot 3-Pack Firework Devices.

The problem with these, the recall notice said: “The recalled fireworks can malfunction, and shots can blow out the side of the tube, posing a risk of serious injury from explosion and burn hazards.”

As with the aerial cakes, no injuries have been reported.

Both products were sold by the Pyro City chain and independent fireworks retailers around the United States. They can be returned to the store where they were bought for a refund.
