Mars Petcare US’ recall notice says two lots of 13.2-ounce cans of Pedigree High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor might have metal and plastic pieces.

“As part of the robust quality control process every single Pedigree product undergoes, these two lots had been sent to a third-party vendor for destruction,” the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice said. “Mars later discovered that the product appears to have been fraudulently diverted and sold into the marketplace in the United States.”

This doesn’t involve any other Pedigree dog food. Check the bottom of the cans for lot No. 613C3KKCFC or 613C1KKCFC.

If you see either, don’t feed it to your pets. Toss the can or cans out; take them back to the store of purchase for a refund; or reach out to Pedigree for a replacement either online or at 800-525-5273, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, or 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
