A man in a GMC pickup truck was struck head-on by a tractor trailer Friday morning, killing him and injuring the other driver, highway patrol said.

The pickup driver was Austin Lesane, a 44-year-old Blythewood resident, said the Richland County Coroner’s office Saturday morning. He was struck just before 10 a.m. on McCords Ferry Road near the intersection with Lake Dogwood Circle, and died on the scene.
The other driver, who has yet to be identified, was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Master Trooper William Bennett said that Lesane’s car, a 2019 GMC Sierra, was heading north on McCords Ferry Road before being hit head-on by a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

The crash is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
