A 27-year-old Columbia man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after a Lexington County jury convicted him in the June 2023 shooting death of a 55-year-old woman who investigators said was an innocent bystander.

On July 17, Tyrese “Rese” Glascho was convicted of murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, criminal conspiracy and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Circuit Judge Walton J. McLeod IV imposed the life sentence on the murder charge and ordered concurrent sentences on the remaining counts, according to a news release.
Glascho was found guilty in the killing of Emily Renee Zeigler, 55, who was shot June 7, 2023, in the Pine Grove Road area of Lexington County. Evidence presented at trial showed the shooting occurring around 2 a.m. when Glascho and a co-defendant went to the 600 block of Pine Grove Road and opened fire on a man sitting inside a Lexus parked in a driveway, the release said.
The man was hit multiple times and robbed of personal belongings, prosecutors said. As the shooting unfolded, Zeigler opened the front door of her home after hearing the disturbance outside and was shot in the chest at her front entrance. She died a short time later from a single gunshot wound to the heart.
Investigators said Zeigler had no known connection to the shooters.
The wounded man was flown to Prisma Health’s trauma unit by LifeNet helicopter and told a responding deputy he was shot by “Rese,” the solicitor’s office said.
Lexington County Sheriff’s Department investigators developed leads that led to arrests, including a palm print at the scene that investigators said matched the co-defendant. Prosecutors also cited social media messages and cell phone records that indicated the two were in contact June 6, hours before the shooting, according to the release.

Testimony during trial revealed the pair planned to rob the man in the Lexus and arrived armed with pistols. Investigators recovered evidence of at least 11 fired cartridge cases at the scene — eight from a .40-caliber weapon and three from a 9 mm — and found both .40-caliber and 9 mm bullets inside the bloodstained vehicle, prosecutors said.
Investigators also testified that shots were fired in the direction of Zeigler’s home and front entryway, according to the release.
“This was a senseless act of violence — carried out with a complete disregard for human life,” Eleventh Circuit Solicitor Rick Hubbard said in the release, adding that the office remained committed to protecting the community from violent offenders.
Family members of Zeigler addressed the court during sentencing, describing the impact of her death, prosecutors said.
Glascho was transported to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence immediately, the release said.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Solicitor Suzanne Mayes and Assistant Solicitors Jordan Cox and Kaitlyn Grigsby. The investigation was handled by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Unit.
