One person is dead and another injured following a fatal collision in Anderson County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on SC Highway 81 near Bridges Drive, where a 2016 Nissan Altima was heading south while a 2021 Toyota Corolla was traveling north, according to a news release.
The driver, and sole occupant, of Nissan crossed over the center lane and hit the Toyota head-on, the release said.

The operator of the Nissan died as a result of the crash, while the driver of Toyota was injured and transported to an area hospital, according to the release.
The deceased has not yet been identified by the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
