Two teenagers have been charged with murder, and a third is in custody, following the shooting death of a 17-year-old in Gaffney.

Keveon Ken’Dre Covington, 18, and Reginald Barnes Jr., 17, both of Gaffney, were charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime after the Wednesday shooting death of Jomitron Sentell Fair Jr., 17, at a school bus stop.
A 16-year-old was also taken into custody and transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice. The 16-year-old’s name was not released because of the person’s age, police said.

“Let us all continue to pray for Jomiltron’s family and for our community. This senseless act of violence does not reflect the values of our city,” Gaffney Police Chief Gerald Knight said in a news release.
Gaffney Police was assisted in the case by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Emergency Management, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the South Carolina State Transport Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
