Ready for SC’s GOP Senate runoff? Here’s what to know about debate, early voting

The runoff to replace the late Lindsey Graham on the November ballot may be eight days away, but South Carolinians can vote early and learn more about the Republican U.S. Senate candidates this week.

U.S. Sen. Darline Graham and U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman are running for a chance to represent South Carolina the U.S. Senate. The winner of the Aug. 25 runoff will face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in November.

Here’s more about what to expect in the week before the U.S. Senate runoff.

Early voting

Early voting runs for three days from Wednesday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 21.

Voting locations are open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registered voters can cast a ballot at any designated location in their county. Early voting locations are listed on the state Election Commission’s website.

Only registered voters who did not participate in the Democratic Party primary in June are allowed to vote in the runoff.

Nearly 62,000 voted early in the special primary.

SC GOP debate

Graham and Norman will participate in a televised debate Tuesday, Aug. 18. The debate will begin at 7 p.m. at the Newberry Opera House.

The state Republican Party will host the debate, and it will stream on Newsmax and SCETV. The debate will also be available on SC Public Radio and SCETV’s social media.

It will be moderated by Greta Van Susteren, a Newsmax anchor, according to an SCETV news release.

Graham and Norman are both expected to attend.

Other GOP events

U.S. Rep. Sheri Biggs, who represents the 3rd Congressional District, will hold her annual “Salute to Liberty” event Monday. Graham and Norman are both slated to attend.

Graham and Norman are also confirmed to participate in a forum in Greenville hosted by the 4th District Republican Club Monday.
