Javarrious Jamison, 20, was charged Monday with possession of a firearm on school property after two shootings on the campus of South Carolina State University during a homecoming celebration last October, according to a news release.

Jamison marks the seventh arrest in connection to two unrelated shootings during a homecoming celebration Oct. 4 at S.C. State. One person, Jaliyah Butler, 19, was killed and another injured.

Following the Oct. 4 2025 shooting in the parking lot of Hugine Suites at S.C. State, Jamison was detained by law enforcement while standing next to what appeared to be an abandoned firearm, according to an arrest warrant.

Investigators later matched a DNA sample from Jamison with that of the deserted handgun, including a bullet inside the chamber of the gun, the warrant said.

Jamison’s arrest follows that of 19-year-old Deon David Savage, of Richland County, who was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, carrying or displaying a firearm on school property and breach of peace aggravated nature on July 15.
