Search for missing veteran who could be armed, South Carolina police say

A search is underway in South Carolina for a missing man who could be armed.

Keith Lynch was publicly reported missing Sunday night by the Columbia Police Department. Lynch has not been seen for days, police said in a news release.

Lynch was last seen leaving his Enoree Avenue home Saturday, according to the release. That’s in the area near Five Points and the University of South Carolina campus, between Pickens Street and Harden Street.

There was no word if Lynch was alone when he was last seen, and police did not say if foul play is suspected in his disappearance.

Lynch is a military veteran, and family members are concerned about his well-being, police said. A weapon was reported missing from Lynch’s home, according to the release. Further information about the specific type of weapon was not available.

When he was last seen Lynch was wearing a red shirt, black shorts and black Crocs, police said. Home surveillance footage also shows Lynch carrying what appears to be a black duffle bag, according to the release.

Anyone who sees Lynch is warned to use caution and should not attempt to approach or confront the missing man, police said. Instead, anyone who has seen Lynch, or has information about him, is asked to call police at 803-545-8341.
