One person was killed and two others were injured Sunday morning in a crash, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The single-vehicle collision happened at about 1:25 a.m. in Florence County, said Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover.
A 2014 Chevrolet pickup truck was driving west on Cockfield Road in the Scranton area, according to Glover. Near the intersection with Tranquility Road the Chevy pickup ran off the left side of Cockfield Road then overturned and crashed into a ditch, Glover said.
One of the three people in the Chevy pickup died at the scene, according to Glover.
The Florence County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the victim who died.
The two other victims were hurt and taken to an area hospital, Glover said. Further information on their conditions was not available.

No other injuries were reported.
It was not clear which of the crash victims was driving the Chevy pickup, and which two were passengers. There was no word if any of the victims were wearing seatbelts.
Information about what caused the Chevy pickup to veer off the road was not available, but the wreck continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol.
Through Aug. 23, at least 558 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2026, according to the state Department of Public Safety. A minimum of 914 people were killed in collisions in South Carolina in 2025, DPS data shows.
At least 16 people have died in Florence County crashes this year, and 36 people died in wrecks there in 2025, according to DPS data.
