One person was killed Wednesday in a crash at an Upstate intersection, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The two-vehicle collision happened at about 8:30 a.m. in Anderson County, said Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway.
A 2003 Cadillac was driving east on Jolly Road, according to Ridgeway. The Cadillac then turned left, where it was hit by a 2007 Ford box truck that was driving south on S.C. 243, Ridgeway said.
The Cadillac driver died while being taken to an area hospital, according to Ridgeway. The Anderson County Coroner’s Office said Richard William Grubbs, a 68-year-old from Seneca, is the driver who died, WSPA reported.
Ridgeway said that the box truck driver was not hurt, and no other injuries were reported.

There was no word if either of the drivers were wearing seatbelts, but the wreck continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol.
Through Sunday, 580 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2026, according to the state Department of Public Safety. A minimum of 914 people were killed in collisions in South Carolina in 2025, DPS data shows.
At least 28 people have died in Anderson County crashes this year, and 37 people died in wrecks there in 2025, according to DPS data.
