Eight people shot at nightclub in South Carolina, sheriff says

Multiple people were injured over the weekend in a shooting at a nightclub in South Carolina, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 1 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a call about a shooting in the 2700 block of Decker Boulevard, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. That’s in a part of Columbia near the intersection with North Trenholm Road, and close to Two Notch Road.

Information about the name of the nightclub, and its address were not available.

Deputies learned that two shooting victims had been located at the scene and taken by EMS to a local hospital, according to the release.

While deputies were investigating, they learned that six additional shooting victims had arrived at local hospitals, the sheriff’s department said.

Information about the victims’ conditions was not available, but no deaths have been reported.

There was no word about the shooter, or shooters, or the number of people involved. Information about a motive for the gunfire was not available.

No arrests have been reported, but the shooting is being investigated by the sheriff’s department.
