Those who are looking for a workout will soon a have a new spot to check out in a busy northeast Columbia area.

HOTWORX, an infrared fitness studio, will open a new location at 961 Roberts Branch Parkway at Killians Crossing in northeast Columbia, per a news release. The grand opening will be marked with a community block party from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 23 that will feature local vendors and small businesses, and free HOTWORX classes. Those interested in a class can call 803-661-8966 to reserve a spot, the release noted.
HOTWORX is a “24-hour infrared fitness studio offering virtually instructed 15- and 30-minute workouts inside patented infrared saunas,” the release said. The concept “combines exercise, heat and infrared energy to help members maximize the time and effort they put into their workouts.”
The northeast Columbia HOTWORX location is owned by Kelsey Caskey and Sheena Vaccaro, who also own the company’s location on Devine Street in Columbia.

“Infrared is what really made HOTWORX stand out to me,” Vaccaro, who also is a nurse practitioner, said in a release. “I’ve seen friends and patients looking for ways to support goals like weight management, recovery, better sleep and stress reduction. The combination of an efficient workout with infrared heat creates an experience that is completely different from a traditional gym.”
Caskey, meanwhile, said she saw a need for another boutique fitness option in growing northeast Columbia.
The new northeast Columbia HOTWORX will be in a busy area near Farrow and Clemson roads. The Killians Crossing development also includes a Kroger supermarket and a number of other businesses. It’s a high-traffic area, with more than 41,000 cars per day traveling down Clemson Road nearby, per state Department of Transportation data.
