‘With both gratitude and heavy hearts’: This longtime Columbia bakery will close

A long-running Columbia bakery known for petit fours and other treats announced it will close.

Tiffany’s Bakery, located at 9704 Two Notch Road, will close on Sept. 30, according to a Tuesday social media post from owners Jim and Kay McMillan on the Tiffany’s Facebook page.

“After 49 incredible years of serving this community, the time has come for us to close a very special chapter in our lives,” the social media post said. “With both gratitude and heavy hearts, we are announcing our retirement and the closing of Tiffany’s Bakery on September 30, 2026. For nearly five decades, this bakery has been so much more than a business to us. It has been a place where friendships were formed, families grew, traditions were created, and countless special moments were celebrated.

“We have had the privilege of being a small part of your birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, holidays, graduations, and everyday celebrations — and that is something we will always treasure.”

The bakery’s closure announcement was met with an enormous response on Facebook, with more than 1,700 reactions, more than 630 comments and nearly 330 shares as of Wednesday morning.

Tiffany’s initially opened as a bakery in Sept. 1977 in what was then known as Columbia Mall. It later moved to a spot at 8502 Two Notch Road, and eventually to the current space at 9704 Two Notch.

“To every customer who walked through our doors, placed an order, recommended us to a friend, brought in the next generation of their family, or simply stopped by to say hello: thank you,” Tiffany’s said on social media. “Your loyalty, friendship, encouragement, and support have allowed us to do what we love for 49 wonderful years.

“The memories we have made and the relationships we have built will stay with us long after the doors close.”
