The three-vehicle collision happened at about 5:10 p.m. in Florence County, said Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway.

Three sedans — a 2025 Toyota, a 2012 Mercedes-Benz and a 2022 Hyundai — were driving east on U.S. 76, according to Ridgeway. Near the intersection with Marigold Street the Mercedes-Benz driver lost control as that car hit the Toyota, which then crashed into the Hyundai, Ridgeway said.

The Mercedes-Benz then flipped over, and the driver died at the scene, according to Ridgeway. The Florence County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified that driver who died.

The Toyota driver was injured and taken to an area hospital, Ridgeway said. Further information on the Toyota driver’s condition was not available.

Ridgeway said that the Hyundai driver was not hurt, and no other injuries were reported.
