Four people were shot at a block party in South Carolina Saturday, according to the Newberry Police Department.

Early Saturday morning, officers responded to a call about a shooting at a block party on Wise Street near Holloway Street, police said Sunday in a news release. That’s in the downtown Newberry area, about 1.5 miles from the Newberry Opera House.
Four people were injured in the shooting, according to the release. The victims were taken to hospitals in Newberry and Columbia, police said. Further information on their conditions was not available.
There was no word about a shooter, or shooters, and the number of people involved. Information about a motive for the gunfire was not available.
No arrests have been reported in the shooting that is being investigated by police.

“This investigation is in the early stages, with very little cooperation from those in attendance, and we do not have much information,” Police Chief Kevin Goodman said in the release. “Newberry Police Department investigators are working diligently to identify those responsible for this senseless act of violence.”
