One person died after a crash in the Upstate early Friday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers say around 2:41 a.m., a 2026 Toyota Camry was headed east on Rolling Hills Circle before veering off to the left of the road and hitting a guardrail. The vehicle then traveled up an embankment before striking a utility pole, according to a news release.
The driver, who was travelling alone, died at the scene of the crash, the release said. He was identified as 42-year-old Avery Raines of Travelers Rest, according to the Pickens County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and coroner’s office.
