The three-vehicle collision happened at about 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Clemson Road and Longtown Road, said Master Trooper William Bennett. That’s in the northeast part of Columbia, near the junction with Killian Road.
A 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was driving east on Clemson Road and a 2018 Kia Sorrento was heading north on Longtown Road when it stopped at a traffic light, according to Bennett. A 2015 Kia Forte was driving west on Clemson Road and was turning left onto Longtown Road when it collided with the Chevy, then crashed into the Sorrento, Bennett said.
A driver and a passenger in the Forte were taken to an area hospital where the passenger died, according to Bennett. The Richland County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the passenger.
Further information on the driver’s condition was not available.
Bennett said that neither the Chevy driver nor the driver and passenger in the Sorrento were hurt, and no other injuries were reported.
