An elderly man in Lexington County was arrested after using his car to hit and pin a victim inside a parking lot, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Ralph Eugene Baker, 71, was charged Wednesday with 2nd degree assault and battery following an incident on June 3, when investigators say he injured a person by hitting and pinning them between two cars using his vehicle, according to an arrest warrant.
The incident occurred in a parking lot at 105 Saluda Pointe Drive that serves several businesses, including Sub Station II, Willie Jewell’s Old School Barbecue and Starbucks.

Upon being hit by Baker, the victim — who was not identified — lost use of their legs for nearly a minute before Baker reversed his car and unpinned the victim, according to an arrest warrant.
The victim suffered bruising and swelling on their legs and required medical treatment at an outpatient facility, the warrant said.

Baker was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
