Qdoba Mexican Eats, which has locations across the U.S., is planning a location at 4600 Devine St. suite A, according to filings with the city. Records indicate Qdoba filed permits on May 13 for more than $314,000 in renovation work in the Devine Street space. A building permit listing Qdoba was hanging in the window of the space when a reporter recently went by.

There also was a listing on recruiting website Hiring Bridge as of Thursday seeking a general manager for a Qdoba at 4600 Devine.

The Qdoba would be going into a space that formerly was occupied by a Kairos restaurant. It’s in a small shopping strip that also includes a dentist’s office and a Another Broken Egg Cafe location.

This would mark the second new Qdoba in the Columbia area in recent times. The chain opened a location at 1000 Gervais St. in the Vista in late May.

There are about 850 Qdoba Mexican restaurant locations across the U.S., according to data website ScrapeHero. The menu at Qdoba includes tacos, burritos, quesadillas, bowls, nachos and more. The company says on its website that it offers “freshly-made, Mexican-inspired food crafted with contemporary flavors that guests crave.”

The Devine Street corridor, near Fort Jackson Boulevard and Garners Ferry Road, is a high-traffic thoroughfare filled with restaurants, stores and other businesses. About 32,000 cars per day travel down that section of Devine Street per state Department of Transportation data.
