Food Network has picked the iconic foods in each state in the nation.
They’re calling it the United Plates of America.
Some are not particularly surprising like brisket in Texas and Philly Cheesesteak in Pennsylvania, lobster rolls in Maine and hot dish in Minnesota. But have you tried Poutine in New Hampshire or Marionberry Pie in Oregon?

“Each state is packed with iconic regional eats that share its history and define its geography,” the network said. “Maybe you’re craving barbecue as you pass through Alabama, know not to pass up the chance to dig into wildly fresh seafood while in Alaska or are wondering what Connecticut pizza is all about.“
Maybe in South Carolina you should be looking for She-Crab Soup, Food Network said.
“A rich soup that’s similar to bisque, she-crab soup traditionally blends cream, fresh crabmeat, red-orange roe from the female crab (hence the ‘she-crab’) and a splash of sherry,” they said.
From the Lowcountry to the Upstate, she-crab soup is commonplace on restaurant menus.
The network called out Soby’s in Greenville, which has had the soup on its menu since they opened in 1997. The Sea Captain’s House in Myrtle Beach is another they praised. Food Network said the soup and the restaurant are both iconic.
Bonus: Kardea Brown, a Charleston-born cook who created the pop-up New Gullah Supper Club to pay homage to the dishes her grandmother and mother passed down to her, has contributed a she-crab soup recipe.
