Taylor Farms recalls lettuce from Walmarts in Florida, 14 other states

The only retail lettuce products recalled by Taylor Farms around ongoing investigations into cyclospora were on the shelves of the grocery seller with 20 to 25% of the U.S. market.

Late Friday, Taylor Farms de Mexico announced it was recalling 12-oz and 24-oz packs of Walmart’s Marketside Iceberg Salad and 8-ounce and 16-ounce packs of Marketside Shredded Lettuce. The best by dates affected for each are July 18, 2026 through Aug. 3, 2026.

These were sold at Walmart stores in Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

This is part of Taylor Farms “voluntarily removing all iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico from the U.S. market, because it has the potential to be contaminated with cyclospora,” a move the company announced Friday.

The rest of the recalls involve the food service industry, such as Taco Bell, which announced its divorce Friday from Taylor Farms aka Taylor Fresh Foods lettuce. The CDC’s only definitive links in the cyclospora outbreak were to Taco Bells in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia, five states accounting for at least 1,644 illnesses and 94 hospitalizations.

While cyclospora isn’t deadly, it can be quite inconvenient.

“Most people infected with cyclospora develop diarrhea, with frequent bowel movements,” the recall notice states. “Other common symptoms include loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps/pain, bloating, increased gas, nausea, and fatigue. If not treated, the illness may lead to dehydration and severe complications that may require higher levels of care. These complications may last from a few days to a month or longer.”
