Two people killed in crash that left seven others hospitalized, SC cops say

Two people were killed in a Monday night crash that left seven others hospitalized, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The two-vehicle collision happened at about 9:40 p.m. in the Holly Hill area of Orangeburg County, said Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover.

A 2021 Toyota Camry was driving west on S.C. 210, while a 2026 Chrysler Pacifica van was heading north on U.S. 15, according to Glover. The vehicles collided at the intersection, not far from Exit 93 on I-95, sending the Toyota off the right side of the road where if flipped over, Glover said.

Both the driver and passenger in the Toyota died, according to Glover.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the people who were in the Toyota.

There were seven people in the Chrysler, as the driver and all the passengers were injured and taken to an area hospital, Glover said. Further information on the surviving crash victims conditions was not available.

There was no word if anyone involved in the wreck was wearing a seatbelt, but the crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol.

Through Sunday, 464 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2026, according to the state Department of Public Safety. A minimum of 914 people were killed in collisions in South Carolina in 2025, DPS data shows.

At least 18 people have died in Orangeburg County crashes this year, and 31 people died in wrecks there in 2025, according to DPS data.
