Hitting a Speed Bump
With Ram expected to surpass Jeep as Stellantis’ leading brand in America under the FaSTLAne 2030 plan, it will be crucial for the truck brand to avoid potential issues that could disrupt its momentum. In line with this, Ram is taking a proactive approach by issuing a voluntary recall for more than 1.2 million U.S.-market vehicles over a seat-belt buckle-anchor defect.

Because it is a voluntary recall, it may not yet appear in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) database. Stellantis is recalling certain 2019–2026 Ram 1500s because the seat-belt buckle anchor in the second-row center and/or second-row driver-side seat may not be properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure.
A Loose Link in the Safety Chain
Without proper attachment, the second-row seat-belt system may not perform as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.
Notably, the Ram 1500 regular cab – which does not have second-row seating – was discontinued after the 2019 model year, when the truck underwent a major overhaul, though it briefly lived on as the 1500 Classic. Stellantis did not specify the affected body styles, but the current-generation full-size pickup is available in Quad Cab and Crew Cab configurations.

In addition to the 1,271,294 vehicles affected in the U.S., the safety campaign covers about 156,138 in Canada, 15,088 in Mexico, and 74,084 outside North America. The Ram 1500 is sold in markets like Europe, though through distribution partners, similar to the Ford F-150.
The Remedy Is Straightforward
Stellantis will contact affected owners and advise them to schedule a dealership appointment. Dealers will inspect the second-row center and driver-side seat-belt buckle anchors and, if necessary, properly attach them to the vehicle’s body structure at no cost to the customer. The release does not disclose owner-notification dates.
The campaign should help minimize the risk of injuries while preventing a major safety issue from overshadowing Ram’s expansion plans. Stellantis targets 825,000 annual Ram sales by 2030 – a 60% increase from last year and about 85,000 units more than its Jeep target. The lineup is also set to expand with additional pickups, including the Dakota and Rampage.
