SC dad arrested after gun found hidden in son’s crib, Richland sheriff says

A South Carolina man was arrested after deputies found firearms stashed inside a 10-month-old’s bedroom, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Karlos Gibson, 20, was charged with possession of a machine gun and unlawful conduct towards a child following a search warrant, where deputies found a gun inside the crib of Gibson’s son and another one in his son’s closet, according to a news release.

The arrest stems from a search warrant Richland deputies executed in the 1700 block of Van Heist Street around 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to the release.

Both firearms were modified with switches — in effect changing the weapons from semi-automatic to fully automatic machine guns, according to the release.

Gibson was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where he received a $2,500 bond for possession of machine gun and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond for unlawful conduct towards a child, according to the release.
