The bodies were found at 8 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Ryder Cup Boulevard in the Oakwood Hills Golf Community, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office said. The development is in Pinebluff, about a 75-mile drive southwest from downtown Raleigh.

Demetrius Louis Aggelis has been identified as a suspect, the sheriff’s office said in an Aug. 12 news release.

The victims include his stepfather Bobby Farris, 63, his mother Christina Aggelis, 62, and his niece Trinity Thomas, 20, officials said.

“(Demetrius) Aggelis reported that he had gone to the residence at 115 Ryder Cup Boulevard to pick up his stepfather, Bobby Farris, and take him to an airport for a scheduled flight. Aggelis stated that when he arrived, he found all three victims unresponsive,” the sheriff’s office said.

“Moore County sheriff’s deputies, fire personnel and emergency medical services responded and determined that all three were deceased from apparent homicide. … Surveillance video recovered during the initial investigation appeared to show an armed individual entering the victims’ residence shortly after 3:30 a.m.”

Aggelis told investigators that he was “several miles away” at his home when the armed individual was recorded at the home. However, Flock Safety cameras recorded a vehicle linked to Aggelis traveling near the crime scene before and after the killings, the sheriff’s office said.

“Aggelis has been charged with three counts of murder and one count of first-degree burglary and has admitted responsibility for the deaths of the three victims,” the sheriff’s office said.

“Investigators have recovered weapons and other evidence believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes which are being submitted for further examination and analysis.”

Details of a motive have not been released.

Court documents report Aggelis has a criminal history that includes assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
