It’s called Retool & Supply hardware store in Pelzer, which Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina will open later this month.

They’re calling it their sharpest retail concept yet.
Sponsored by Ingles Markets, it is inside the existing Goodwill and is a first-of-its-kind specialty store, Goodwill said in a news release.
They couldn’t resist the puns.
“Fully stocked to help local DIYers, makers, and weekend warriors add high-quality tools to their thrifted gems without hammering their wallets.”
“Modern thrift shoppers aren’t just looking for clothes anymore – they are also looking for sustainability and affordability for their hobbies, trades, and home renovations,” said Pat Michaels, Goodwill president and chief executive officer. “Retool & Supply gives these incredible items a second life, keeps them out of landfills, and directly builds up our local workforce. It’s a win-win-win.”
They’ve got landscaping equipment, power tools, plumbing fixtures, hand tools, and other needs for home improvement.
“Whether you’re looking to revive your lawn, build a bookshelf, or finally fix that squeaky cabinet, Retool has the gear to get it done,” the news release said. “Best of all, every single screwdriver, rake, and socket wrench purchased directly funds GIUMSC’s mission to provide free job training, placement services, veteran resources, and youth programs throughout South Carolina.”

The Greenville-Midlands Goodwill has other specialty areas as well such as Auten’s Loft boutique, with locations in Lexington and Chapin, selling designer and name-brand clothing, jewelry, shoes, accessories and select home décor, rePLAY sports store, an 800 square-foot store in Travelers Rest and SecondStory bookstore in Greenville with over 20,000 used books.
Retool & Supply hardware store opens on Wednesday, Aug. 26 with a grand opening celebration, 297 Highway 20, Pelzer.
A VIP reception and ribbon cutting (RSVP required by Aug. 21) happens at 8 a.m. before the store opens at 9 a.m.
Operating hours will be Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
